October on South Padre Island is usually warm to hot and humid, with strong sun and a steady Gulf breeze. Showers and thunderstorms can roll through, and later in the month cold fronts can bring a cooler, windy day and rougher surf. Tropical storms are still possible until hurricane season ends on November 30. Late April and May are similar: warm, often very windy, and getting hotter toward June. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast and the rip current risk the evening before and the morning of your trip.
