From late May to early September, afternoons on the surface are usually hot and sunny, and July through September is monsoon season, when afternoon and evening thunderstorms bring lightning, sudden downpours and flash flooding in washes. October is usually milder, with warm days and cool evenings. Underground it stays about 56°F with high humidity all year. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast the evening before and the morning of your trip.
