About 13 hours, including 6–7 hours of driving. This is an ambitious full day: keep Ecola optional and choose one main Astoria attraction.

Allow 75–90 minutes for exhibits, cheese and ice cream. Check current opening hours.
Lunch and a beach walk. Tolovana is the route anchor; Haystack Rock is roughly a mile each way along sand from there. Choose a nearer legal access for less walking.
Optional viewpoint only if open, clear and on schedule. Skip it if running late.
Column views, then a short riverfront walk and early dinner. Check parking fees and stair access.
Allow 2–2½ hours. Expect October night driving; home around 8:30–9 pm.
Suggested times, not reservations. The beach time is not a low-tide prediction. Your guide includes official links to check hours, tides and access.
The route links put the destination into your phone’s navigation so you can review the road route and start directions using the app’s latest available traffic, road closure and detour information. Check official road alerts too; app coverage can vary and posted closures always apply.
Google Maps also supports the complete loop with the three main stops. Apple Maps and Waze links open one destination at a time from your current location.

Cool coastal air, showers, fog and low cloud are all possible. Exposed beaches and the Astoria Column may feel much colder in wind. Pack waterproof and windproof layers, shoes with grip and a dry spare layer.
These are seasonal expectations, not your travel-date forecast. Check each town before leaving.
Check NWS weather and warnings ↗The guide flags Ecola parking permits, pet and drone rules, Column parking charges and protected areas at Haystack Rock. Admission and parking are separate from your guide purchase. Check the included official sources for current fees and closures.
Watch the ocean for sneaker waves, stay off driftwood near surf and skip beaches during hazard warnings. Don’t climb Haystack Rock or disturb marine life. Don’t assume the itinerary lines up with low tide. Traffic, parking and a tired driver can turn a long day into an exhausting one.
In ordinary rain, keep the Creamery, shorten the beach walk, skip Ecola and reach Astoria earlier for the Columbia River Maritime Museum, subject to hours and admission. During severe weather or unsafe road conditions, shorten the trip or postpone.
Rain shell, layers, sturdy shoes, dry socks, water, snacks, power bank, first-aid kit and flashlight. Take a cooler for dairy purchases. Check roads, tides, coastal warnings, attraction hours and park closures before leaving.
