From October to April the Hill Country usually brings cool to mild mornings and mild to warm afternoons, with strong sun on the bare granite even in winter. Cold fronts can drop temperatures sharply and bring wind on the summit, and spring and fall storms can bring lightning and heavy rain that make the rock slippery and close the Summit Trail. Summer days are hot, and the dome reflects the heat. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast the evening before and the morning of your trip.
