Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

From November to March the river corridor is usually the warmest part of Big Bend: NPS averages at Rio Grande Village give afternoon highs of about 70–78°F from November to February and the mid-80s in March, with dry air and strong sun even in winter. Mornings are cold: average lows are near or below freezing in December and January, so dress in layers; brief cold fronts bring wind and chilly days. By April average highs reach the 90s. Rain is uncommon in these months, but any storm can raise the river, close dirt roads and bury the hot spring in mud. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast.

A good day, in the bag.
