Woodstock & Quechee Vermont day trip

Woodstock & Quechee Vermont Day

A long Vermont day from Boston: the bridge view and gorge trail at Quechee Gorge, lunch above the waterfall at Simon Pearce's glassblowing mill, a reserved mansion tour at Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, the working dairy at Billings Farm, then Woodstock's village green and Middle Covered Bridge at the end of the afternoon. Better still as an overnight.

Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

Early to mid-October in the Woodstock and Quechee valleys usually brings cold mornings, sometimes with frost or valley fog that burns off by mid-morning, and cool to mild afternoons. A sweater and shell are right most days. Rain and wind come through with passing fronts, and a windy storm can strip the leaves quickly at peak. The sun sets around 6 pm, earlier as the month goes on. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast the evening before and the morning of your trip.

Admission and parking are separate. Check current conditions before departure.

A good day, in the bag.
