Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

Late September to mid-October in the White Mountains usually brings cold mornings, sometimes with frost, and cool to mild afternoons. Kancamagus Pass, near 3,000 feet, is noticeably colder and windier than Franconia Notch or Conway, and can sit in cloud while the valleys are clear. Rain, fog and gusty cold fronts are common, and an early snow at elevation is possible by mid-October. Days are getting short. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast the evening before and the morning of your trip.

Admission and parking are separate. Check current conditions before departure.

A good day, in the bag.
