Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

From June to September, Block Island is usually a little milder than inland Rhode Island, with a steady sea breeze, strong sun and almost no shade on the roads. Morning fog is common in early summer and can delay boats. Afternoon thunderstorms are possible, and late summer and early fall are hurricane season, when wind and swell can cancel the high-speed ferry. Headwinds make the ride back from the North Light harder than the ride out. The ocean stays cool even in August. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast and marine forecast the evening before and the morning of your trip.

Admission and parking are separate. Check current conditions before departure.

A good day, in the bag.
