Napa Valley Wine day trip

Napa Valley Wine Day

A Napa Valley wine day from San Francisco: breakfast at Oxbow Public Market, three booked tastings at Robert Mondavi, Beringer and Mumm Napa, and lunch on Main Street in St. Helena, up Highway 29 and back down the Silverado Trail. It's planned around a driver who doesn't drink, small pours and bottles kept in the trunk.

Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

Harvest season in Napa Valley (September and October) usually brings dry, sunny weather: cool mornings, sometimes with fog or low cloud near Napa and the bay, then warm to hot afternoons that get hotter as you go up-valley toward St. Helena and Calistoga. It's also fire-weather season in the North Bay, with gusty offshore winds, red-flag warnings and smoke possible on some days. The first real rain usually arrives in late fall. Winter is cool and wet with bare vines; summer afternoons can be very hot. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast the evening before and the morning of your trip.

Admission and parking are separate. Check current conditions before departure.

A good day, in the bag.
