Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

From mid-October to early November, Helen typically has mild, often sunny afternoons in the 60s and cool mornings in the 40s, with occasional frost late in the window. Brasstown Bald is about 3,000 feet higher and usually 10–15 degrees cooler and much windier, and fog or low cloud can sit on the summit even when the valley is clear. Fall cold fronts bring a day of rain followed by the clearest, longest views. Spring and summer are greener, with afternoon thunderstorms common in summer. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast for both Helen and the summit.

Admission and parking are separate. Check current conditions before departure.

A good day, in the bag.
