Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

In April–May and October, days along the Potomac are usually mild and good for walking, with cool mornings, sunny afternoons and occasional rain; spring brings blossom and fresh lawns, and October brings changing leaves and lower humidity. Summer is hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms, and the estate has little shade between buildings. Winter days are cold and short, Mount Vernon closes at 4 pm, and snow or ice can slow the parkway. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast.

Admission and parking are separate. Check current conditions before departure.

A good day, in the bag.
