From late November into early January, days in the Brandywine Valley are usually cool to cold, with highs mostly in the 40s °F and evenings near or below freezing. Darkness falls around 4:30–4:45 pm, so most of the Longwood evening is spent in the cold, and wind across open lawns makes it feel colder. Rain is more common than snow, but a coating of snow or a spell of freezing rain can arrive at any point in the season and make paths and back roads slick. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast.
