Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

From May to October, the Laurel Highlands are usually mild to warm by day, and Fallingwater notes they run about 10 degrees cooler than Pittsburgh, so a morning in the hollow at Bear Run can feel cool even in summer. June to August is warm and humid, with afternoon thunderstorms that can be heavy; Fallingwater isn't air-conditioned, so a midday summer tour can feel close. September and October bring crisp mornings, comfortable afternoons and fall color, and by late October nights can approach freezing. Rain makes the rocks at Ohiopyle and Cucumber Falls slippery, and heavy rain raises the Youghiogheny quickly. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast.
