Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

From June to early September, Erie is usually warm and often humid, with afternoons mostly in the upper 70s to low 80s°F and the lake breeze keeping the beaches a little cooler than inland Pittsburgh. Lake Erie is the warmest of the Great Lakes and is usually comfortable for swimming by July and August, though June can feel bracing. Afternoon thunderstorms can roll in quickly off the lake; get off the beach and out of the water at the first thunder. On windy days the National Weather Service in Cleveland issues beach hazards statements for high waves and dangerous currents along the Erie County shore. Evenings by the water can turn cool, especially in September. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast.

A good day, in the bag.
