December in Seattle is usually cool and damp, with highs in the mid-40s °F and evenings in the upper 30s, frequent light rain or drizzle, and occasional wind. Snow and ice are uncommon but can close events and make hilly streets dangerous. Sunset comes about 4:15–4:20 pm in mid-December, so most of this plan is in the dark, on wet pavement. Dress for two hours standing and walking outside at the zoo. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast before you go.
