Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

September and October are usually Santa Fe's most comfortable walking months: sunny, dry days that are warm in early September and mild by late October, with cool mornings and chilly evenings that can drop near freezing by late October. Early September can still bring the last afternoon thunderstorms of the summer monsoon, with lightning and brief heavy rain. At about 7,000 feet the sun is intense even when the air is cool, and the temperature falls quickly after sunset, so dress in layers. Summer is hotter with daily storm chances, and winter brings cold mornings and occasional snow. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast.

A good day, in the bag.
