Plan for the conditions
Expected seasonal weather
In April and May, and from October into early November, Middle Tennessee usually brings mild afternoons and cool mornings, with spring thunderstorms and fall color on the Trace in late October and early November. Summer is hot and humid with afternoon storms, and winter days are short and chilly, with occasional ice that can close the parkway. The Trace is heavily wooded and shaded; the Franklin grounds are open lawn. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast.
Admission and parking are separate. Check current conditions before departure.
