Plan for the conditions
Expected seasonal weather
From late May to early October, Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs are usually sunny and warm, with July highs in the 80s around 6,300 feet. The summit is another world: expect temperatures 30–40 degrees colder, strong wind, and, on many summer afternoons, thunderstorms with lightning and hail that build quickly over the peak. Snow can fall at the top in any month, and by October cold fronts can close the upper road for a day or more. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS Pueblo forecast, the Pikes Peak summit point forecast and the live summit cameras.
