Plan for the conditions
Expected seasonal weather
In mid- to late October the Hudson Highlands usually bring cool mornings, sometimes with river fog that lifts by mid-morning, and mild, often sunny afternoons. The summit of Bear Mountain is cooler and windier than the city, and passing fronts bring rain every few days; a windy storm can strip the leaves quickly. Days are short, with sunset around 6 pm in late October. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast the evening before and the morning of your trip.
Admission and parking are separate. Check current conditions before departure.
