Plan for the conditions
Expected seasonal weather
September is usually warm and dry on the island, with highs often in the 80s; October is the sweet spot, with mild sunny afternoons and cool evenings; by November, days are cool and nights near or below freezing, with the first storms possible. The lake makes it breezy, and Buffalo Point can be cold and windy at sunset even after a warm day, so bring a layer. There's almost no shade on the island. Summer runs into the 90s, and winter brings freezing nights, occasional snow and inversion haze over the valley, though the island is often clearer than the city. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast.
