Plan for the conditions

Expected seasonal weather

From mid-September to early October, days are usually sunny and mild in Utah Valley and noticeably cooler at the top of the Alpine Loop, thousands of feet above the valley. Mornings in the canyons can be near freezing, especially later in the window, and afternoons are pleasant for walking. The open cave trail can feel warm on the climb in the sun, while the cave itself stays about 45°F. The first fall storms can bring cold rain, wind or snow to the summit, and one storm can strip the aspens of their leaves. These are seasonal expectations, not a forecast for your travel date; check the NWS forecast.

A good day, in the bag.
